Theatrical Review – Dread Central Presents: Zombiology and Turbo Kid

Last night was the first edition of Dread Central Presents, a new monthly series created to bring independent horror (or adjacent) films to theaters near you. Oddly, this actually came to a theater near me, the delightful Nightlight Theater in Akron, Ohio.  I appreciate the concept, it is nice to be able to see some […]

Blu-ray Review – The Apartment – Arrow Academy

The Apartment is a hyper-specific horror film, for an HR worker this film is the impetus for nightmares. For the rest of us, The Apartment is one of the greatest example of romantic comedies, not to mention one of the greatest dramas, out there.

Serial Killer Double Feature – Jack the Ripper and The Zodiac Killer

This double feature is purely due to serendipitous delivery, but it works. Severin Films announced a limited edition of the 1959 film of the Jack the Ripper story and I pulled the trigger. The Zodiac Killer is an AGFA release which was on my list for a while and was in my cart when I ordered something else.

Blu-ray Review – 68 Kill – IFC Midnight

68 Kill Director: Trent Haage  Screenplay: Trent Haage Minutes: 92 Year: 2017 Score: 7.33 Release: IFC Midnight My first experience with Matthew Gray Gubler was Wes Anderson’s Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and since then he has reliably been one of my favorite characters on Criminal Minds. When I saw that he was making a […]

Blu-ray Review – The Vanishing – Criterion Collection

The Vanishing Director: George Sluizer Screenplay: George Sluizer and Tim Krabbe Minutes: 106 Year: 1988 Score: 8.00 Release: Criterion Collection It is incredibly rare for a film to affect my dreams. When they do it typically takes a dozen or so views before my brain defaults my dreamscape to another world, I have been to […]

Blu-ray Review – Certain Women – Criterion Collection

Certain Women initially interested me because of its cast, but I was not in a hurry to see it until The Criterion Collection announced they would be adding it to the collection. It is often intentional that I ignore most reviews because my tastes seldom mirror most of the viewing audience. And I think that is why you come here.

Theatrical Review – Molly’s Game

Longtime readers of the site will know that if Jessica Chastain is in a movie then I will be watching the movie. It is an inevitability. The same goes for Idris Elba. The same goes for Aaron Sorkin. The question is whether it would be theatrical or wait for home video. But together? Opening weekend of wide release.
